Mad River Shareholders Celebrate The mother of all thaws melted away the plentiful snow pack and the mountain was forced to close on Tuesday, March 30, but was re-opened for one last fling the day of the shareholders meeting. The cover on top was great, but below mid-station it got progressively more spotty. The upper trails were opened from Noon to 4 PM as Mad Rivers skier-owners had one last chance to make the final lift serviced turns on their mountain. After skiing and a touch of the famous Mad River conviviality the Shareholders Meeting began. More than 200 shareholders crammed into the top floor of the Basebox to attend. The meeting was highlighted by the announcement that after nearly three years of effort enough shares had been sold to fulfill the requirements outlined in the purchase agreement with Mad River Corporation. The meetings other highlights included reports from Co-op President, John Schultz and General Manager Robert "Boomer" Mazza. The treasurers Report was delivered by Josh Tower and the Share Marketing Report was made by Robin Bleier. The meeting ended with an election of three members to the Board of Trustees. Chach Curtis, CEO of Mad River Canoe, and Deri Meier won the most votes for the in-state seats. Curtis is new to the Board and Meier, the incumbent, has been a Trustee since the formation of the Co-op. Mad River regular, Ken Eaton, won the lone out-of state seat.
