Avoiding a nasty hike? Substitution is a better word. Not having scared myself quite enough with my creative Chute descent, I certainly succeeded here. It wasn't so much that it was steep, or that it was long, or that I was dog tired -- it was the synergy of the three: I found myself hyperventilating and wishing I was back at home, safe in bed, in the arms of my lover -- anyplace but clinging to a 50 degree snow covered ravine by the tips of my well worn Langes!
